The Legend of Hanuman Janam Utsav

 Hanuman Janam Utsav, also known as Hanuman Jayanti, is one of the most significant festivals in the Hindu religion. It is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Chaitra, which falls in March or April. The festival commemorates the birth of Lord Hanuman, the divine monkey and one of the most revered figures in Hindu mythology.  The Birth of Lord Hanuman

The legend of Hanuman's birth is fascinating and full of symbolism. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Hanuman was born to Anjana, a celestial nymph, and Kesari, the king of the monkeys. Anjana was performing intense penance to please Lord Shiva, who was impressed by her devotion and granted her a boon. Anjana asked for a son who would be strong, courageous, and devoted to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva blessed her and promised that he would be born as her son.


 The Divine Birth of Hanuman

The birth of Hanuman is considered to be divine, and there are several stories associated with it. According to one legend, Lord Hanuman was born with a divine aura that illuminated the entire universe. As soon as he was born, he leaped towards the sun, mistaking it for a ripe fruit. Lord Indra, the king of the gods, was furious with Hanuman for trying to steal the sun and struck him with his thunderbolt. Hanuman fell to the earth, and his jaw was broken. Lord Vayu, the god of wind, became angry and withdrew the air from the universe, causing chaos and destruction. The gods pleaded with Vayu to return the air, and Lord Brahma intervened and blessed Hanuman, restoring his jaw and making him immortal.


Hanuman's Childhood

Hanuman's childhood was full of adventures and miracles. He was born with extraordinary powers and was considered to be an embodiment of strength, courage, and devotion. As a child, Hanuman had a mischievous nature and often played pranks on the sages and ascetics. One day, he mistook the sun for a fruit and tried to catch it. When he failed, he jumped towards the sun and swallowed it whole. The gods were alarmed and begged Hanuman to release the sun, which he did after realizing his mistake.



 Hanuman's Devotion to Lord Rama

Hanuman's devotion to Lord Rama is legendary and is considered to be one of the most significant aspects of his character. Hanuman was introduced to Lord Rama during his exile in the forest, and he became his most ardent devotee. Hanuman played a crucial role in helping Lord Rama rescue his wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana. Hanuman's loyalty and devotion to Lord Rama are considered to be an inspiration for all devotees of the Lord.



 Hanuman Janam Utsav Celebrations

The celebrations of Hanuman Janam Utsav vary from region to region, but they all share a common theme of devotion, prayer, and feasting. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy, and it is believed that worshipping Lord Hanuman on this day brings good luck, prosperity, and success. The celebrations usually start with the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa, a hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Devotees also offer prayers and sweets to the deity and perform aarti, a ritual of offering light to the deity.
